More than art schools, books and a lifetime of visiting museums, it was the use of computers which, for me, opened new avenues of creative exploration. This medium has also paved the way to create a bridge with my lifelong fascination with Nature, the ultimate artist. As our daily life is inundated with fast moving images, I often long to freeze this visual bombardment into a restful landscape or an image that lets us pause and question. For these compositions, I feel privileged to benefit from the infinite mathematical capacities of computers while following my (non mathematical) artistic intuition.

A Mac computer and Epson inkjet printer now constitute her artistic medium. Her digital images (photos and scans) are manipulated with different software in numerous layers on a virtual background, using cropping, scaling, cut and paste techniques, blending and mirroring effects, digital brushes and different levels of transparency. These layers are then fused into a final composite of irregular symmetries, which she prints, after a long process of color adjustments, with archival inks and paper in editions of 1 to 5.
Martine Jore’s works, sculptures and prints, have been shown since 1990 in several venues in New England (Cape Cod Art Museum, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, members, juried, group and solo shows) and are held in private collections on both sides of the Atlantic. She is an active member of VAC (Visual Artist Cooperative), The Printmakers of Cape Cod, the American Print Alliance and ArtSynergies.com.
